Eric Richey is the CEO and founder of Riverparishfootball.com's parent company Richey on Sports. Eric is an Emmy Award winning TV sports anchor/reporter and has worked in the industry for 25 years.
Currently working as an anchor/reporter for Cox Sports Television in New Orleans, Eric has also been a sideline reporter for NFL on Fox (2000-01, 2007-08), has worked as a play-by-play announcer for ESPN Regional College Football (2007) and is beginning his second season as Cox 4's New Orleans play-by-play announcer for high school football.
As the CEO/President of Riverparishfootball.com, Eric has developed the site into one of the top regional high school football websites in the country. He also runs Richeyonsports.com and in 2013 is overseeing the launch of Nolacatholicleague.com.
Eric's experience in covering high school football has been full of a unique combination of quantity and quality. In the past 25 years, he has covered the likes of Rocket Ismail (WBRE Wilkes-Barre, PA 1988), Charles Woodson (WFND Findlay, OH 1992-94), Rex Grossman (WXIN Indianapolis, IN 1997-98), and Julio Jones (WALA Mobile, AL 2004-06). Those experiences, combined with over ten years of covering high school football in south Louisiana (HTV/Houma 1991-92, WGNO/New Orleans 2002-03, WVUE/New Orleans 2007-09, and CST/RPF.com 2010-present), gives Eric as diverse a background in covering high school football as you will find.
A 1989 graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Eric is the proud father of Lani (22), Chelsea (17), and Emma (6).
George Becnel, co-founder and Senior Writer of Riverparishfootball.com, is an award-winning journalist and has been a sports writer and editor for more than 30 years.
A former sports editor of The Courier in Houma, Louisiana, he has been cited with numerous writing awards, including having been selected "Columnist of the Year." As sports editor, Becnel’s sports sections consistently placed among the top three for best sports section in its size category, including several first-place awards.
A native of Vacherie, Louisiana, Becnel is the author of five books. His books include: The Wildcats: A History of St. James High School football; The Bulldogs, A History of Lutcher High School football; The Cardinals, A History of E.D. White Catholic High School football; Big Boy: The Life and (Often Hilarious) Times of Norman Swanner; and When the Saints Came Marching In: What the New Orleans NFL franchise did wrong (and sometimes right) in its expansion years.
Lori Lyons is a veteran journalist who spent 26 years with The Times-Picayune before joining Riverparishfootball.com in 2012. She spent 22 years in the River Parishes Bureau, where she provided extensive coverage of high school sports, the Zephyrs, college baseball and breaking news.
Among the many honors for her work were two Louisiana Sports Writers Association Prep Writer of the Year awards (1992, 2003), the LSWA's prestigious Mac Russo Award (2008), and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's Prep Journalism Award (2008). A member of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association for more than two decades, Lori served as the group's president from 2010-2012.
She is a member of the LSWA's Hall of Fame Committee as well as the Greater New Orleans Sugar Bowl Hall of Fame Committee. A native of Houma, Lori is a graduate of Terrebonne High in Houma and Loyola University in New Orleans.
Married to Coach Marty Luquet, she has two stepchildren: Daniel and Courtney; a daughter, Lora Leigh Luquet; and a new step granddaughter, Robi Drew Luquet.
