Collins, Dutchtown extend Destrehan’s losing streak

Collins finished with a game-high 110 yards rushing. Nickens rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns, while Magras ended with 67 yards on the ground. West Jefferson, the fourth-ranked team in Class 5A, built a 19-0 halftime lead and led by as much as 26-0 before Destrehan scored the game’s final two touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 26-14 loss Friday night in New Orleans. Karr edges Destrehan 29-27 to hand Wildcats first loss of season

A failed two-point conversion in overtime handed Destrehan it first loss of the season 29-27 to Karr on Friday night in Destrehan.   With the score tied 21-21 after regulation, Karr got the ball first to start overtime. An 8-yard touchdown pass from Devante Noil to Rasheed Davis gave the Cougars a 27-21 lead. Rickey Jefferson and Dillan Dent each accounted for three touchdowns in Destrehan’s 45-22 home win Friday night over St. James. Jefferson had 112 yards on two catches, both for touchdowns. He also rushed for 73 yards on five carries and a touchdown. Dent was 5 of 7 passing for 184 yards and three touchdowns. Quick start propels Destrehan to season-opening win over Tarpons

Coming off a disappointing 3-7 season in 2010, Destrehan made up for a late debut in 2011 by winning its season opener. Originally scheduled for a Friday night, the Wildcats’ opener against South Lafourche was moved back three days because of the threat of Tropical Storm Lee.
