Inclement weather greeted Destrehan and Slidell in last year’s season opener but the Wildcats still managed to produce 623 yards of total offense in a 45-23 victory. Lutcher defeats Destrehan on Bland’s last-second field goal

For the third year in a row, Lutcher defeated Destrehan in the Ed Reed Jamboree, this time it was 23-21 on a last-second 22-yard field goal from Alec Bland. Potential heavy rain associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey has led to two River Parish jamborees moving from Friday to Thursday. The Ed Reed Jamboree featuring Lutcher at Destrehan is now slated for 6 p.m. Thursday. Also, the St. Charles jamboree also has been moved to Thursday. When senior quarterback Kohen Granier injured his knee right before halftime and Destrehan clinging to a 14-0 lead against rival Hahnville in Week 4 of the 2016 season the Tigers’ long regular-season winning streak hung in the balance.
