Destrehan, West St. John have solid outings in spring game action

Destrehan showed early in its Spring Game on Wednesday that the Wildcats continue to have quick-strike ability. In a scrimmage that feature Destrehan’s first- and second-team units alternating series against visiting Covington, the Wildcats scored twice in their opening set of 12 plays. Over at West St. John’s three-team scrimmage against Riverdale and KIPP-Booker T. Washington, the Rams scored early as well but it was the WSJ defense that looked rock solid. ... Keep Reading

DHS Wildcats feature a bit of old and new during spring practice

The Destrehan football helmet could well serve as a theme for the Wildcats in 2018. The familiar Wildcat logo remains but red has given way to gray or silver. Even the Wildcats aren’t quite sure yet. “It’s kind of a combination. DHS adds coaching experience with Scobel new defensive coordinator

Destrehan has added experience to its defensive coaching ranks with the addition of Malter Scobel as defensive coordinator. Scobel a former head coach at Covington and Hammond, replaces Marcus Scott.
