With both teams playing without their starting running backs, Destrehan’s spring game at Covington on Wednesday was a low-scoring affair. Destrehan’s younger runners had the better outing as Kyle Edwards and Ed’Juan Green scored the only two touchdowns in the controlled portion of the spring game while neither team scored in a 15-minute quarter to conclude the evening. “We made too many mistakes for a spring game. The Wildcats pushed back the start of spring practice from Monday to Tuesday because of a forecast of continued inclement weather. “We looked at the radar and I made the worst call I’ve made in a few years not to go so we didn’t waste... Destrehan’s recent success, which included a trip to the Class 5A championship game a year ago, has had a lot of Wildcat foes searching for answers. This spring, however, it is Destrehan looking for answers. With the loss of offensive firepower in the form of running back Will Matthews and receivers Kirk Merritt and Alfred Smith, along with five senior offensive linemen, Destrehan has some reloading to do. “We have a lot...
