Destrehan showed early in its Spring Game on Wednesday that the Wildcats continue to have quick-strike ability. In a scrimmage that feature Destrehan’s first- and second-team units alternating series against visiting Covington, the Wildcats scored twice in their opening set of 12 plays. Following the departure of veterans such as quarterback Kohen Granier, running back Kristian Mosley, receivers Mike Smith and Justin Jefferson, along with defenders Jaece Stroud and Kieran Webb, the Wildcats return one of their least-experienced teams in recent memory. “We all got dressed, so that’s a good thing. They all put their helmets... Keep Reading

Regardless of the outcome, when Destrehan and Covington meet, they usually bring out the best in each other. Both head coaches felt that way following Thursday’s spring game at Destrehan. The game, which was originally scheduled for Friday at Covington, was moved to Destrehan on Thursday in anticipation of inclement weather and the fact the Wildcats have an artificial turf playing surface. “We love play Covington,” said Destrehan coach Stephen Robicheaux. ...
