Sheldon and Leonard from The Big Bang Theory aren’t likely to spend their time looking over game film of the first half of Hahnville’s last three seasons, but if they did, they might compare it to a time warp sequence out of Star Trek or The Twilight Zone. As fits a game that is considered part of the Great American Rivalry Series, Destrehan and Hahnville continually answered each others’ scores in the annual battle for bragging rights in St. Charles Parish held Friday night in Destrehan. The biggest answer came from Destrehan kicker Brady Quinn, who booted a 27-yard field goal with eight seconds left in the game to give the Wildcats a hard-fought 31-28 triumph in the District 7-5A opener. ... THIBODAUX – Nicholls needed someone to make a final defensive stop. Through three quarters, the Colonels’ defense held visiting University of Incarnate Word to one first down and 23 yards of total offense. Hahnville coach Nick Saltaformaggio had a hunch his football team would be playing in bad weather in Friday night’s game against Riverside Academy in Reserve.
