THIBODAUX - Maybe it had something to do with Lucky 13 but the football gods didn’t rain on Archie Manning and the Manning Passing Academy. Days of rain related to an approaching Tropical Storm Cindy had the Manning Passing Academy in doubt earlier in the week. When camp time arrived Thursday, conditions for the 13th edition of the MPA to be held on the Nicholls campus were surprisingly dry. “Monday night, you don... Keep Reading

What a difference a year makes. Last year Lutcher only sent one player to the Offensive/Defensive Lineman Camp in Thibodaux. Bulldogs offensive line coach Josef Venus made sure that number would increase this season. "We were lucky enough to bring ten guys this year," said Venus. "After last season, we put together two fundraisers and were able to raise money to pay for the camp." The prestigious camp sponsored by Thibodaux Regional Medical Center... Keep Reading

I used to be terrible with my steps but now I will be so much better when we get in games and practices.” “It really helps me better my... Keep Reading

It took longer to prepare to postgame jambalaya Wednesday than it did for Lutcher’s intra-squad scrimmage to close spring practice. Some spring games can take longer than a regular-season game but the Bulldogs made quick work of things by finishing up their scrimmage in less than 90 minutes. “I just thought we got enough possessions in and didn’t want to risk any injuries. Injuries happen when kids get tired. We just... Keep Reading

It may appear that when you are a two-time defending state champion, you can start practice as late as you want to. That may have seemed like the case for Lutcher’s football team but there was more to it than just a late debut for the 2017 Bulldogs. “We were just trying to make sure we just had as many guys here as possible,” said Dwain Jenkins, who is conducting his second...
