Lutcher defense produced enough early points that the Bulldogs really didn’t need their offense in a 49-19 District 9-3A win over Lusher on Friday night in New Orleans. The Bulldogs’ defense scored two touchdowns directly and set up a third as Lutcher built a 28-7 halftime lead on its way to the victory. “They have that knack. My defense has a pretty good scoring average,” Lutcher coach Tim Detillier... Keep Reading

A 7-1 start, including 5-0 in district play, has set up a potential showdown for the league crown in two weeks at unbeaten and second-ranked De La Salle. The gates opened four hours before the game to accommodate the huge crowd estimated at more than 5,000 and woe to anyone who might have arrived a bit late. “It was 16-0 and they still were parking cars in the parking lot,” said St. James coach Dwain Jenkins, whose Wildcats fell behind early and could never recover in a 32-0 Lutcher victory. The first game between the two St. James Parish rivals in 11 years... Keep Reading
