In the first six years of Riverparishfootball.com (2010-2015) only twice, St. Charles in 2011 and Lutcher in 2015, did any of the eight River Parish teams win a state championship. In 2016 that total doubled as both Riverside and Lutcher claimed state titles. No coincidence that both school’s head coaches Bill Stubbs and Dwain Jenkins have been named Riverparishfootball.com Co-Coach of the Year. “Well it’s pretty exciting,” said Stubbs who... When Myles Meyer walked into the East St. John front office Thursday morning, there waiting for him was a television crew, a sponsor holding a trophy, and his head coach. Quizzical would be the best way to describe the look on his face, but once he realized they were all there for him (including the trophy) the confused look gave way to a smile. Meyer, an East St. John senior defensive tackle/nose tackle has... Keep Reading

What a difference a year makes. Following his senior season at Destrehan, Will Sirmon IV still wanted to play college football but had no offers.  With 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash, he felt he had the athleticism to continue playing. Would he go the JUCO route? Walk-on? He ultimately went down a far different path. With a little research, he discovered many schools in the Northeast offered a post-graduate year, basically a fifth year... Keep Reading

Some of the self-proclaimed gurus have termed it a down year in Louisiana recruiting. That may be the case in terms of the number of players from the state headed to LSU and other Power 5-type schools but in terms of smaller colleges, the River Parishes have provided another abundant crop. “Football is football, and Louisiana has always produced a lot of hidden gems. Other players have gone on to small schools and have... Keep Reading
