OAK GROVE, La. – The end of the road for West St. John as state champions came in a north Louisiana town in the Class 1A semifinals. Playing in conditions more conducive to a rugby scrum than football, the Rams were never able to gain their traction and fell a game short of reaching the state championship game for the second year in a row with a 30-0 loss to Oak Grove on Friday night. ... After having played in Week 10, Destrehan and Terrebonne were more than familiar with each other in last week’s Class 5A quarterfinals. So familiar, second-seeded Destrehan managed to eke out only a 3-0 lead at halftime against the visiting Tigers. “I think both teams were trying to feel each other out,” said Destrehan coach Stephen Robicheaux. It was a far cry from the Week 10 encounter when the Wildcats scored on their first... Keep Reading

On first-and-10 from the Nicholls 35, Laiche, a former star defensive lineman from... Keep Reading
