In the season of giving, it’s time for RPF.com to hand out its annual post-season awards. Over the next four days we will announce our finalists for Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Athlete of the Year, and Coach of the Year. Each day beginning Friday December 27, we will announce one of the winners of the four awards plus the annual Nick Forsythe Courage Award.
Today we begin in alphabetical order with the finalists for the RPF.com Offensive Player of the Year:
Donovon Isom (QB) Destrehan- Isom ended his prep career with a stellar senior season. Isom swept the regular season RPF quarterback leaders categories in competitions (114), yards (2,021), touchdowns (26), and completion percentage (65%).
Jeremy Jackson (RB) West St. John- Jackson followed up his junior season where he led RPF in yards per carry (9.3) and was second in rushing yards and third in touchdowns with an even better senior season. Jackson won the “running back triple crown” with 1,430 yards, a 10.8 average, and 20 rushing touchdowns.
Erron Lewis (RB) St. Charles- Lewis was one of four RPF players to rush for over one thousand yards finishing third with 1,082 yards and second in rushing touchdowns with 19.
Xavier Lewis (QB) East St. John- Led all RPF quarterbacks in rushing with 845 yards (7th overall) and was 6th in passing yards with 852.
Will Matthews (RB) Destrehan- Ranked third in RPF with an 8.9 yards per carry average, and in rushing touchdowns with 18. Finished the regular season with 963 rushing yards which ranked sixth.
Lowell Narcisse (QB) St. James- The only freshman finalist, Narcisse ranked second in RPF with 20 touchdown passes (only 6 interceptions) and was fourth in passing yards with 1,394. In two playoff wins, Narcisse accounted for an amazing 11 touchdowns (6 passing, 5 rushing).
Deuce Wallace (QB) Riverside- Despite missing the final three-and-a-half games of the regular season with a broken leg, Wallace still finished third in RPF with an even 1,400 yards and was tied for third with 18 touchdown passes. Wallace, just a sophomore, also made a courageous comeback in the playoffs coming off the bench throwing for 363 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The winner of the RPF.com Offensive Player of the Year will be announced Friday December 27. The schedule for the remaining finalists:
