Lutcher win sets up district showdown against Plaquemine

Photos by Jarrod MonaretBy beating Tara 44-0, the Lutcher Bulldogs set up a showdown in Week 10 against Plaquemine for a potential share of the District 6-4A title.


Lutcher put itself in position to play for a share of the District 6-4A title in Week 10 after blanking visiting Tara 44-0 on Friday night.

The Bulldogs (6-3 overall and 3-1 in district play) will host Plaquemine next Friday. The Green Devils (7-2 overall and 4-0 in district) defeated Woodlawn 42-0 on Friday. Parkview Baptist (3-6 overall and 2-1 in district) edged St. Michael 15-12 on Friday.

Earlier in the season, Parkview defeated Lutcher 36-27. The Eagles host Woodlawn in Week 10.

Jacoby Williams finished as the Bulldogs’ top receiver with three catches for 75 yards.

Mekhi Patterson led the team in rushing with 58 yards on three carries.

The Bulldogs amassed 372 yards of offense while holding Tara to 93 total yards, including 47 passing and 46 rushing.

Lutcher led Tara 3-0 after one quarter on a 32-yard field goal by Noah Detillier.

Bulldogs quarterback tossed three of his four touchdown passes in a 28-point second quarter as the Bulldogs pulled away for a 31-0 halftime lead.

Bourgeois, who was 9 of 16 passing for 218 yards with one interception, connected with Adrian Butler on a 36-yard scoring toss to extend Lutcher’s lead to 10-0.

Touchdown passes of 11 yards to Rasohn Williams and 23 yards to Cam Amato made it 24-0.

Rasuan Starks rounded out the first-half scoring with a 10-yard run.

Lutcher added touchdowns in each of the last two quarters of the game.

Bourgeois and Butler hooked up again, this time on a 27-yard pass to make it 37-0 through three quarters.

Da’mario Brown rounded out the scoring on a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter.
