Destrehan was the last of the District 7-5A teams to play a league game but made a quick start of things in a 45-7 Homecoming win over visiting H.L. Bourgeois.
Because the Wildcats’ bye date in the league schedule came in the first week of the district slate, Destrehan had two non-district games under its belt before facing the Braves.
Destrehan improved to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in district play. HLB fell to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Behind two early rushing touchdowns by Razan Keller, the Wildcats jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead.
The Wildcats also had their passing game working early
Quarterback Jai Eugene Jr. connected with receiver Calvin Bullock on a pair of touchdown tosses as Destrehan put the game out of reach by halftime.
Destrehan led 45-0 before the Braves scored their only touchdown of the game.
The Wildcat defense has allowed a total of only three touchdowns through the first three games of the season.
