West St. John spread the scoring wealth around in a 65-8 home win over East Iberville to close out 2011 regular season.
Tevin Smith scored on a touchdown pass and run, Kylum Favorite and Sean Cannon each rushed for two touchdowns and Jairus Moll had a pair of touchdowns to highlight an offensive explosion for the Rams.
“Our main focus was to execute our game plan,” West St. John coach Robert Valdez said. “We always want to establish a running game and force people to defend our running game and that makes us more flexible to get the ball to Moll and our receivers.”
The fifth-straight win for the Rams improved West St. John to 8-2 overall as the undefeated District 9-1A champions finished 5-0 in league play.
“I’m really excited. The kids have a lot of confidence and believe in what we are doing. We are trying to take it one game at a time and get major victories and make a run at a state title,” Valdez said of the impending playoffs that begin next week.
A 45-yard pass from Tevin Smith to Austin Howard gave the Rams a 7-0 lead. Howard ended the game 8 of 9 passing for 130 yards.
